Parents and members of the Parker Woods Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) are doing a FANTASTIC job planning the End-of-Year Celebration for our children! We need your help organizing this fun day and any fresh ideas are welcome. We received lots of feedback from last year (keep it a community events, thanks for providing free food, promote baskets more, more stuff for older children, etc); these ideas have been heard and we look for more people to help plan the event so we can involve all of our Parker Woods families.
This event is designed to celebrate another great year, invite our new families in and do some fundraising for the school. The funds raised help pay for field trips, school supplies, art supplies and so much more! The EOY celebration will be fun, have games, bouncy houses, dunking booth, raffles and FREE FOOD (if we can raise enough money)! Staff and 6th graders will be nominated to be dunked in the dunking booth, please keep your ears open for more details. Staff will have the chance to opt out; children will have to opt in with a signed waiver. This will be lots of fun! The used book sale, raffle baskets, and dunking booth information will go out in waves over the next several months to help promote the event.
How can you help? We are looking for ideas from all families so everyone can have a great day as well as build a strong committee so everyone has light work. The biggest area that needs help is games. It would be wonderful to have 3-4 people working on games. We need several creative / resourceful people to help build games that could be used year over year while the other people on games buy prizes (with raised money) and solicit volunteers. Other areas of opportunity are promoting the event, soliciting donations for baskets and making warm leads to potential corporate sponsors (I do not mind asking for money but warm leads help).
Open positions to help:
– 3-4 on games (last years lead will be an adviser for this committee so you have help)
– Marketing assistance (advertising in local papers in advance before cut off dates to showcase our school as well as promoting baskets and consider ways to sell tickets in advance of festival date)
– Dance-a-thon lead (working with Beth Schlick)
– Donation help (money or items for baskets)
– Volunteer coordinator
– food coordinator including buy food (We have asked Kroger for $500 to supply food)
Rachel Morgan and I have begun asking corporations for money. Our goal is $2000 so we can pay for all supplies without tapping into the PTO fund. So far we have raised $350 and making more solicitations every day.
Please reach out today if you want to help! Our meetings are fun yet productive and often over food and beverages 🙂 Our next meeting will be at the end of February or first week in March.
If you can not help, please forward to one person you think that can! Thanks
Looking forward to working with you this year!
