Funded, in part, by the Community Outreach Program

When will CARE happen:

Friday January 27, 2017
6:30-8:30 pm during PTO Movie Night
Media Center

What is CARE:

Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE) is a trauma-informed, field-initiated modification of the evidence-based Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).  This modification uses specific PCIT skills for general usage by non-clinical adults who work with children.

Who is CARE for:

CARE is for any adult who regularly interacts with kids including parents, grandparents, other involved family members, and any school staff member.

How does CARE work:

CARE utilizes the 3 P skills (Praise, Paraphrase and Point out Behavior) to connect with children and build the child-adult relationship.
CARE also teaches set of techniques for giving effective positive commands to children to increase compliance.
CARE teaches adults to use strategic ignoring techniques to redirect problematic behaviors.

Fall Movie Night is Friday, October 28th

Fall Movie Night is Friday, October 28th

Remember that next Friday, October 28th is our Fall Movie Night. We will be watching Hotel Transylvania (rated G). This will be a sales free event, we will only be supplying the movie and popcorn. Feel free to bring snacks to share or a picnic for your family. Blankets to sit on are encouraged. The movie will start at 6:15.

There will be a PTO planning chat happening in the media center during the movie if you want to get involved in the upcoming mascot elections, book fair, room parents or general planning.

We won’t need many volunteers during the event but we WILL need clean up help so please stick around after the movie to help us get things back in order if you can. PTO is responsible for leaving the cafeteria ready for use on Monday, we cannot have these events if we don’t reset everything and it gets done quickly when we have lots of help.

This is also your child’s opportunity to wear their costume to show off to their friends since they cannot wear costumes to school on Halloween. We hope you can join us!

Summer Garden Care

Summer Garden Care

Please help support the growing (and overgrowing !) of the Koster Learning Garden at Parker Woods Montessori.

We need a person to water each week, and a back up person in case volunteer #1 needs assistance.

We recommend you sign up for two weeks: one as main watering volunteer, and one as back up.

Watering may involve a commitment of one hour or two – three times a week, depending on the weather. A sprinkler will be available so that volunteers may multi-task (read, play, weed, walk, etc).

Judy will contact you with the combo number for the lock to the shed, and give you directions for turning on the water valve.

Here is the sign up link:

If you prefer NOT to log into Sign Up Genius, please email Judy Ganance and she will gladly sign you up:

We need volunteers starting Monday, June 13th, so we need help immediately 🙂

Walk with Us in the Northside Fourth of July Parade

Walk with Us in the Northside Fourth of July Parade

Hello, Parker Woods Montessori Friends!

Congrats on making it through the school year 🙂 It’s that time of year when we get to walk in Northside’s Fourth of July Parade and show our school pride! The parade happens at 12 noon on Monday, July 4, 2016. Here is a link to parade information: All children must be accompanied by an adult, and we will be pulling wagons with snacks, water and candy to throw out to the parade crowd. Please sign up here and let us know if you have a wagon you can bring.

We will have a planning meeting on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 to discuss a theme and make plans to decorate wagons and make signs. You do NOT have to come to the meeting to walk in the parade. We are looking forward to having a large group representing Parker Woods Montessori. Please join us if you can! I believe the parade route is less than 2 miles, and if a child becomes too tired, they can ride in a wagon for a bit. Hope to see you at either the planning meeting or the parade!

Call or email Rachel Morgan with any questions/comments/suggestions!
