GBBN Architects and PWM are teaming up to restore, repair and beautify our green space. 3rd level students will plant daffodil bulbs around the building. 9-12 Level students will participate in mulching a path in our small forest (adjacent to the garden), cutting back honeysuckle, making ‘seed bombs’ and repairing garden boxes.
We invite parents to volunteer along side our GBBN volunteers and teachers. We need your leadership! Sorry, please do not bring younger siblings. email Judy Ganance at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (513)363-6224 to learn more and volunteer.
Please consider donating a bag of daffodil bulbs (any amount) for this great event! Our spring will burst with yellow! Drop off daffodils with your child’s homeroom teacher or at the office.
It’s Walk-a-Thon time again and this year is going to be the best! One new thing is that we are doing is using Crowdrise, so that raising money is super easy. Crowdrise is a lot like GoFundMe or other sites that allow you to ask for donations online. You/your child will have an individual page for you to share on Facebook or email, etc.
Another new thing is that their classes are grouped into Color Teams of 3 or more classes (about 75 students) that will walk together on the day of the Walk-a-Thon (Oct. 13th). They will wear that color on the walk and PWM will be a huge rainbow walking through Northside!
Here’s how to get set up:
1) Go to www.crowdrise.com/pwmwalk
2) Click on the gray ‘Set Up Your Fundraiser’ button.
3) Click on the Color Team of your child’s class.
Here are the Color Team assignments by class:
- White Team: Amanda Hendricks, Heather Bailey, Alex Naim, Susan Guetle, Amber Lovett, Linda Biehle, Alexis Calloway, Christine Gaefe, Tonya Enderle
- Red Team: Emma Chambers, Mary Ann Miller, Judy Ganance
- Orange Team: Erica Mulvey, Lori Pathak, Ashley Martinez
- Yellow Team: Anne Marie Barth, Katie Doyle, Pamela Stein
- Green Team: Ann Marie Kafoure, Tamara Casey, Emily Westerling
- Blue Team: Abby Stayton, Megan McGraw, Susan Best
- Purple Team: Beth Schlick, Anna Rehrer/Kelly Barnett, Sue Schneider
4) Click the ‘Join the Team & Create Your Own Fundraiser’ button on the right side.
5) Fill out super quick info. Click ‘Sign Up’ (it’s free).
6) Here is your personal fundraising page to share! Personalize it, add pics, and follow the prompts as to how to make it your own. When you’re ready, email it out to friends, family, co-workers, etc. and share on Facebook.
Crowdrise is an extra tool to help you. You can also send in money/checks from Oct. 9-13, and use PayPal on the PTO website. All donations will be complied and count towards the individual, class, and team your child is on, no matter how it was turned in.
Be sure to ask your kids about the pep rally and the awesome prizes that they heard about! There are prizes for highest raising Color Team, Top Classes (1 per age group), and Top Families. Individuals will get prizes based on the level raised (levels are over $1, $10, $25, $50, and $125). Details about these prizes to follow.
Thanks so much for your continued commitment to PWM. It makes our school even greater all the time.
Hello Parker Woods Families!
Our annual Walk-a-thon and Fall Festival are fast approaching. They take place on Friday, October 13th. These are amazing events – the Walk-a-thon is our biggest fundraiser and the Fall Festival is a wonderful celebration of community. It takes many hands to make them run smoothly. You can use the links below to sign up to help!
Also, this Friday September 29th is Muffins with Moms, Family and Friends from 9:00am – 10:00am. You can visit your student’s classroom and meet other parents! The parking lot fills up very quickly for this so arrive early, walk or park on nearby streets like Bruce, Haight or Glen Parker and walk up through the woods.
The next PTO meeting is Wednesday, October 11th – we hope to see you there!
The Solar Eclipse of 2017 is going to be a marvelous sight and rare educational opportunity. The PWM PTO purchased certified eclipse glasses for the entire school and they have been distributed to homeroom teachers. All glasses are both ISO and CE certified and come with complete safety instructions and certifications printed on the back of each. We encourage you to review this safety information with your children before the eclipse so they know how to wear the glasses properly. Below is the permission slip which gives permission for your student to observe the eclipse with their class on Monday, August 21. If you would like your student to observe the eclipse please fill this out and return it to school Monday morning. If you have already filled out and returned a yellow permission slip you don’t need to do anything further. If you would like to volunteer to help or find out more about plans for viewing please contact your child’s teacher. For more info about the eclipse check out https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov

Several new teachers have been hired for the upcoming school year. Ms. Simmons sent letters via snail mail to all the families who will be affected by these changes. Below are copies of those letters introducing the new teachers.
Calling all PWM parents. Registration for the fall youth soccer season will begin this summer in July. Northside Soccer would like to invite all parents interested in coaching a team this fall to join us for a coaches meeting at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 15 at Happen in Northside.
Every soccer team needs a coach. And every parent is welcome to coach. Every team can and should have more than one person coaching. Every team needs 2 adult coaches and up to 3 coaches can be on the sidelines during a game.
If your child has been playing soccer on a Northside team, and you’ve been watching from the spectator’s side of the field, Northside Soccer is inviting you to switch sides this season and support your child’s team as a coach or coach’s assistant. Lot’s of soccer experience/skill is not needed or expected.
We want to start the fall season strong. Having a full compliment of coaches will help Northside Soccer recruit early and give assurance to every child who wants to play that Northside Soccer will have a team for them.
At the coaches meeting we will discuss what coaching for Northside/SAY soccer involves. Primarily, coaches organize and run weekly practices, attend all the team soccer games, participate in one preseason coaches training and complete concussion certification, and make sure that the kids have a fun and safe time. We’ll also decide how many teams we can support for the upcoming fall season. We can also discuss how to coach a team with little to no previous soccer experience if that is needed. No commitment is required to attend the meeting, but we will ask during the meeting if you are willing to coach a team.
Please send a message to email@example.com to let us know you are interested.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Thanks for supporting Northside Soccer.
Our kids have worked hard in the garden this spring! We need to keep the garden tended over the summer so that they can be inspired by a thriving garden when they return.
Sign up for a week at a time, starting on the Sunday listed. Each week requires watering, weeding, and harvest. One person can do all, but it can be more fun together. Watering is most essential because the plants will die without water. If the slots for a week are incomplete, please look out for essential things that need done in the garden.
Thank you so much!
