From the Principal’s Desk
Dear Parker Woods Montessori Families,
Please take time to read the important information below.
· No School on Veterans’ Day: In honor of Veterans’ Day, there is no school this coming Wednesday, November 11th.
· Magnet School Lottery Application: The Magnet School Lottery runs November 17, 2020 – March 5, 2021. This is the only application period for the 2021–2022 school year. More information about the Magnet School Lottery process is located on CPS’ website (https://www.cps-k12.org/enroll/magnet-enrollment).
· What Happens When a Child Is Sent to Our Isolation Room? The room is designed to keep a child who is showing symptoms away from others until the child can go home. COVID-19 symptoms can resemble a cold or allergies. Until a COVID-19 test is taken, it is difficult to tell the difference between cold/allergies and COVID-19 symptoms. Moving a child with symptoms into isolation is done out of an abundance of caution.
Any student displaying symptoms will go to the isolation room to be evaluated by our nurse.
o Based on the nurse's assessment, the student will be tested for COVID-19, ONLY if a consent form signed by parent/guardian is on file.
o Parent/guardian will be called to pick up the child regardless of if they are tested or not. This is done out of an abundance of caution to keep everyone safe.
o All students sent to isolation will be given a letter to explain next steps.
o Parents of students who are not tested are asked to follow up with the child's primary doctor.
· Arrival and Dismissal Reminders: Thanks for your patience as we continue to smooth out our arrival and dismissal procedures. Please help us by remembering the following:
1. School starts at 9:15 and ends at 3:45.
2. At arrival, students’ temperatures will be checked before leaving vehicles.
3. Students should not to be dropped off or picked up early. Please try to make appointments on days when students are not attending in-person learning.
4. The large circle at the front of the school is for yellow busses only (8:00-10:00 and 2:45-4:00).
5. Bus riders dismiss first.
6. Families should stay in their cars.
7. Whenever possible, please sit your child on the passenger side of the car.
8. Please do not bring pets on when dropping off and picking up students.
9. For safety reasons, if a pet is a passenger in your vehicle, our staff is not required to assist your child with getting out of the vehicle.
10. Please wait your turn and follow speed limits.
We truly appreciate your efforts to keep our students and staff safe!
Stay safe and well!
